Why are (Good) headshots important?
Despite the fact that we would like clients to choose tutors based on credentials, experience, skills, results, and qualifications... we have found that first impressions matter, and that parents tend to put an unexpectedly strong emphasis on the quality of tutor's headshots.
Tutors with good quality headshots tend to get selected more often and command higher rates. Solid tutor profile photos also increase the overall strength of our brand, which is why we require all of our tutors to have a professional quality headshot in order to appear on our website.
Acceptable Headshots
Acceptable headshots are those taken by a professional headshot photographer, whether in a studio setting or outdoors.
Headshots should be warm, approachable, and professional with good lighting and a good expression.

The photo you submit should be at least 1000px on the smaller side. If you have more than one professional photo, please send us a few options to decide from.
If you do not currently have a professional headshot, please provide the office with a few of the best photos you currently have - depending on the quality, we may be able to use one of them temporary until you get a good headshot taken.

Not acceptable
The majority of photos that most people have are generally not acceptable:
- Selfies
- Party photos
- Graduation photos
- Overly-corporate photos
- 'Artistic' photos
- Photos taken by your friend with an expensive camera who is not a headshot photographer
- Family photos
- Cropped Family Photos
- Photos that are even slightly suggestive. Save that twinkle in your eye for Tinder.
- Anything that isn't a professional headshot as above...
In general, we reserve the right to decline any photos - even professional ones - if it goes against our company brand.
