We have encountered a few situations surrounding Covid-19 vaccination status as more and more parents begin to request in-person tutoring.

1. Parents requesting vaccinated tutors

Some families who request in-person tutoring are asking to work with tutors who are vaccinated. If a parent directly requests this, we will include this request in the tutoring job description.

Although we do not ask nor keep track of your vaccination status, you may - at your discretion - include that information on your applications for in-person work - whether parents directly ask for that information or not.

2. Vaccinated status of households

We understand that some tutors are only comfortable working in-person with families who are vaccinated. This situation is complicated by the fact that children under 12 are not eligible to be vaccinated, and some adults in a household may not be vaccinated for medical reasons as well.

Some families choose to volunteer their vaccination status when speaking with us, and when they do so, we will include that information in the job application.

However, since we have no means to verify the vaccination status of families and all members of their household, if you, for any reason (we don’t need to know the reason) would like to only work with families who are vaccinated, or have other specific requirements, please specify your requirements in your application for in-person tutoring jobs, which we will pass along to the families.

For example:

“I am fully vaccinated and happy to work in person with families whose eligible members are also vaccinated.”

OR

"I am willing to work with unvaccinated children in an outdoor setting with/without masks."** etc.

Feedback for BMT

Like many other businesses, we are learning in real time how to navigate the complications of the past 16 months.

If you do feel comfortable sharing your thoughts, please let us know your current comfort level with the above so we can get a better sense of how our tutors would like to navigate these situations going forward.

We understand that comfort levels and preferences will change as the circumstances of the pandemic evolve, so feel free to change these specifications on your applications / etc. as time progresses.

Please get in touch with the BMT office if you have any questions or suggestions.
